The phrase is used to indicate that it is in childhood that the right way is taught in the most diverse areas of life. And with the food is no different! After all, it is much easier to develop healthy eating habits in childhood than to try to change them in adulthood. According to psychologist Claremilia Piffer Hartmann, the role of the family is extremely important, because everything that parents eat becomes a reference for their children.

In the first six years of age, children may exhibit symptoms that characterize eating disorders in childhood and that can cause serious damage to their development if they are not identified and properly treated.

According to nutritionist Maria Bety Fabri Berbel, childhood eating disorders present themselves in different ways and can be perceived when there is a change in the child’s relationship with food, which interferes in its development. “Signs are manifested by a persistent difficulty in meeting the nutritional and energetic needs of the child, always associated with significant weight loss, nutritional deficiency and considerable interference in the psychosocial function,” explains the nutritionist.

The scenery changes, but the script is always the same: at the beginning of the food introduction, it gives a taste to see the baby enjoying the crushed berries. With each new flavor, comes that strange card and, soon after, the open mouth of those who loved the novelty. It would be lovely if it lasted forever. But it does not last.

As babies grow, they become more selective and, especially after experiencing sweet products, most of them begin to refuse those foods that were so successful a while ago. From there, getting children to eat the right amounts of fruit is a challenge. In this fight, the smoothies can act as good allies. Always in partnership, of course, with the fruits offered in natura, a condition in which they maintain the integrity of the nutrients.

Did you know that trans fat is one of the great food villains? Even among the types of fat in food, it is considered the worst of all. Formed through a process of natural hydrogenation, which can happen even in the animal’s body, or industrial, from the inclusion of hydrogen in liquid vegetable oils, turning them into solid fats, the trans fat is used by the industry to improve the taste and texture of food, in addition to increasing its durability.

According to nutritionist Vivian Agatão Zambelli, fats, in general, are extremely important for the body, as they exercise plastic and regulatory functions, help in the formation of cells, hormones and also in some parts of the nervous system. In addition, they also act in the transport and absorption of vitamins and contribute to the increase of sensation of satiety.

However, according to Vivian, trans fat does not act in any of these processes. On the contrary, it has no purpose. “Because it is chemically modified, trans fat is considered” foreign “to our body. The consequence of this is its negative interference in certain metabolic processes. When not used, it is slowly metabolized and fixed in adipose tissue, increasing the amount of body fat, “explains the nutritionist.

Many products considered functional today were already part of the food routine of ancient civilizations. This is the case of amaranth, a seed originally from Peru, used in religious ceremonies and in the feeding of the Inca people, and which gains space in the Brazilian market thanks to its high nutritional value.
